Roller Derby was founded in 1936 by Oscar Seltzer, brother of Leo Seltzer, a pioneer of Roller Derby, as a manufacturer of roller and ice skate boots. Roller Derby's history is the history of skating itself. Starting with the production of the world's first mass skateboards, through the disco skates that dominated the 70's and the inline skating revolution in the 90's, Roller Derby has been with people who love skating around the world for over 80 years.
